In 2012, I was fortunate to be chosen as the marketing and creative director for the inaugural, International Digital Cinema Workshop (IDCW), at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). The IDCW was an intensive three-week workshop designed to teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced attendees how to become the total filmmaker and movie director. The workshop was a very big deal for the university. The president’s objective was to plant a seed that would grow into a full-fledge filmmaking degree program for CSUSB.
The IDCW was the brainchild of Randal Kleiser, the director of the most successful movie musical of all-time, “Grease”. Mr. Kleiser was joined by several award-winning directors, producers, writers and actors who taught attendees the art and science of filmmaking.
My role was to conceptualize the marketing plan for the inaugural IDCW — create the project development plans, art directed the brand identity systems, executed the marketing plan, and managed the communication systems. I collaborated with the President’s Office, Department of Theatre Arts, Department of Communication Studies, Office of Public Affairs, administrators, faculty, students and dignitaries in order to successful fulfill my role.
